As you can see from the above image, John Staniland was a former student at Tāmaki College.

He recently featured in the ASB Good as Gold segment due to “decades of dedication to conservation, having turned former paddocks into thriving bush and wetlands to be enjoyed by future generations. From weed clearing, pest control, assisting scientists and even providing guided tours – John is fuelled by his immense knowledge and passion”.

John was for 40 years the Latin Master at Kelston Boys and his translation of our Latin motto is ‘Strength in Everything’.

It is very inspiring to see former Tāmaki College students such as John set a great example of selflessness and dedication that truely reflect what we believe here at Tāmaki College.
