Tamaki College, established in 1957, caters for students from Year 9 to Year 13 and is situated in the east Auckland suburb of Glen Innes which is 15 minutes from Central Auckland. The school is on several bus routes and a 10-15 minute walk from the Glen Innes railway station.
Auckland, the largest Polynesian city in the world, has a steady, temperate climate with average temperatures between 24˚C in summer and 14˚C in winter.
Tamaki College is a vibrant, multi-cultural, co-educational secondary school of some 560 students serving the local communities of Glen Innes, Pt England and Panmure particularly, but there are students from all parts of Auckland who choose to attend Tamaki College.
Tamaki College has an excellent reputation for providing a high-quality education, and is acknowledged as a centre of innovation. We are committed to Blended Learning using the Google Applications for Education framework and our teaching staff augments this with the use of a wide range of creative approaches using digital tools and pedagogies to deliver excellent teaching and ensure positive outcomes for our students. International students are able to access all curriculum areas, including academies. All technology and every other benefit or opportunity available to domestic students is also available to International Students. We encourage International Students to immerse themselves in as many areas of school life as they can and to enter fully into membership of the Tamaki College family. Our attractive campus provides an environment highly conducive to effective study and student success.
Our school is committed to upholding the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students which is administered by the NZ Qualifications Authority. You can download a copy of the Code here. Where grievances arise, a complaint can be made to the International Education Appeal Authority. Forms for making such a complaint may be accessed here.
Please note that Tamaki College does not arrange home-stays for International Students. It is preferred that students live with friends of the family or relatives in a stable, supportive, and nurturing environment.
As our medium of instruction is the English language, potential International Students are required to have a reasonable standard of English. A recent school report must accompany an International Student Application indicating English as one of the applicant’s current subjects.
All enquiries should be addressed to Ms Kathryn Moore, Deputy Principal (International Students). A College Prospectus and Application Package are available on request.
